Kyalana

Kyalana longed for adventure. No. She craved it! However in a place like the Dragonlogue Territories such attitudes were not encouraged. Not at all!
In fact it was just as forbidden for any dragonlogue dragon to leave the territories as it was for outlanders to enter. The penalty was death and all dragons accepted this if not welcomed it. After all why would someone want to venture outside when all they needed was right there. No one went hungry and everyone had a family or people to care for them and to care for and this was all they needed. The average dragonlogue dragon did not even know that there were other continents on the world of Avalonia and most didn't care anyway. And as for other worlds, well that was too silly to contemplate
Kyalana was not an average dragonlogue dragon. Not by any standard. While she had the standard appearance of a dragonlogue dragon, with dark green and yellow hues of a dragon of the priestess line and while still growing already stood at thirty feet long and half that high. Personality wise she was as different as you could get. The typical complacency was replaced by a curiosity and love of learning that was insatiable.

In particular Kyalana loved delving into the histories of her line and Dragonslogue dragons as a whole and she was often caught up stories of the before time when the dragons bonded with humans and just plain participated in the world at large. However chaos and strife in the before time had caused their withdrawal into their territories and with the help of Lllewellyn the courageous and been able to conceal their territories from the outside world. The bargain had then been struck and that was the beginning of their voluntary isolation. Over the years, the histories had been held by the high priestesses and their druid kin and over the course of generations most had forgotten their beginnings.

Kyalana was the second child of the High Priestess Kilaluna and the Druid priest Ryonach. In accordance to the tradition, her older sister Kyorana had been marked as her mother's successor in the role of high priestess and had been training from an early age. Kyalana while not destined to be a high priestess was from age 7 was trained in the role of archivist and adviser to the empress and high priestess both. In this role she would be required to hjave a thorough knowledge of the secret histories and ancient files in the archive rooms beneath the great hall and using this knowledge advise both the emperor and high priestess in times of need.

This was no problem for Kyalana as she loved learning and devoured each ancient tome volume by volume. Oftentimes she wished she could have lived back then and been involved in those histories rather than just learning about them. Truth to tell, there was not much to her position in the present time with the most major disaster of recent times being when the chief farming district had recommended red relishes in a yellow relish year. Kyalana did not mind so much. Sure she wished for adventure but as long as she could experience it vicariously through her books, she accepted that it was the nearest she would ever get to experiencing it her self.
